Snapper 18.5/38 LT200. I'm assuming that if I remove the deck and lay it flat on my concrete slab that it should lay flat and not move "rock" if I walk around it and apply pressure with the toe of my shoe. It does. So, warped? Does anyone have a magic cure for such a situation. By the way it cuts like crap, can't get it level.

First off :Welcome1: :Welcome1:. I have posted the Owner's manual Pdf. below. Deck leveling instructions are on page 33 or 34. As far as the deck warping goes all I can relate to are the decks on the RER models. These are very stout decks that stand up to abuse very well. Have you tried using a straight edge to check the perimeter of the deck for trueness? Has anyone been using the top of the deck to step on while mounting the mower? Level cutting can be effected by low tire pressure on all tires. Deck hangers can be maladjusted.

I HOPE THESE HINTS HELP YOU OUT

LATER.

Cheaper thinner metal decks can bend easily. The Murray 3 blade 46" deck is the worst I have seen. I have a 52" 3 blade deck I used on a Toro 117 Groundsmaster. I hit enough objects with the front right corner that it bent back and upwards. I had to move just the right front height adjust pin to get the deck to hang level with the rest of the deck height pins. And that deck was stamped with a thicker metal. So there is a reason that you see commercial mowers built with cut and weld decks with very thick metal.

Well I have no idea how I cured this. :dunno: Took the deck off AGAIN. Removed the blades and examined and measured everything I could think of. Cleaned, lubed (FYI the zerk fittings for the spindles are on the under side of the deck) and reassembled. I may have swapped the blades around, and I know I swapped the spacer between the blades and spindles to the opposite side. I think Snapper calls this a spindle washer. I have given up on trying to measure level, I just "mow and tweak". So I eyeballed it level, and didn't even have to tweak it afterward. It's a thousand percent better! I'm still not completely satisfied with the quality of cut, but my wife is calling me obsessive and threatening to buy me a "grass micrometer" :ROF, so I guess it's good for the rest of this season.
