I call it the Mutt Cadet cause it was an LT1024 I sacrificed to get dad's LT1018 back in service. Later on, I put it back together for use with spare parts. Now has a Briggs L head 18.5 hp from a Craftsman and a 46 inch deck modified from a Yard machine. Gotta say, them horiz opposed Briggs engines are sweet smooth runners. At any rate, it is nowhere near the original LT1024 but it sure is a good little workhorse. I want to build a small front loader to put on it using linear actuators for lift and dump functions. Has anyone on here ever attempted this? Thoughts? Open to suggestions if anyone would like to share. thanks!

To answer your question, yes it has been done . . . on a JD lawn tractor. Member Houndstooth built a beautiful loader for his tractor that looked factory made. He removed it shortly afterward and built a glass cab with air conditioning and a CD player instead. Again he did a beautiful job that looked as if it came from the factory. Unfortunately, he moved on several years ago and his pics went with him.

The real question is should it be done? The answer is no. An LT is too light, has a weak front end with small tires, and the hydro is not suitable for ground engagement activities.

The stress on the front end is even worse with the mini loaders than with a full fledged loader, and the other restrictions still apply.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'd hate to see anyone put that kind of effort into a build and then find that the tractor isn't up for the task.
