Walter has left the building for the last time. Age- 92

What an amazing career.

What an amazing personality.

This man could have become President of the USA if he had decided to run.

It is difficult to find the words fitting to express the admiration Walter had from a nation that invited him into their livingrooms every night when he anchored the news. Walter reported the news. He never made it up like so many of them do today. Walter was the most trusted man in America. We will miss him.

I don't know how great a man he was as Cronkite was another person promoting one world government. He was a great newsman. slkpk

I remember a series called "You Are There" where Walter and some other's would "report" on a breaking "historic event". Good shows, great for kids back when American History wasn't poison.

Yes, he was a sailing enthusiast and so was I, but there's where we parted as he sailed off on a broad reach waaay to the left of the rhumb line... In later life it was this diversion from reality that took away much of his credibility. He did make a big mark though and earned a place in broadcasting history. IMNSHO He couldn't carry Edward R. Murrow's equipment bag though.
