That pretty much sums up a lot. It's funny how people on this forum will bash the decision by companies like Husqvarna and John Deere for entering box stores. Well, 90% of this country doesn't want to pay for quality anymore. Those 90% shop at box stores hoping to get something for nothing, and as a result, companies like John Deere and Husqvarna are going to cash in.

Reading that article, I had to remind myself that it was writen 19 years ago. As true today as ever, but it has extended to the likes of JD and Husqvarna, and most of the other "name brands".

The move away from retailers to the box stores by customers has forced the name brand mfg's to also have to market models that will compete with the discount manufacturers and can be sold side-by-side with them. This is why you're seeing so many green-and-yellow LA's and orange Husq's in the same lineup in front of Lowe's and home Depot as the MTD's and troy-Builts, etc.
