Stopped by my L-B dealer yesterday and sitting out front was a very clean 1999 model 10525 with mulch plate & rear bagger kit for $200.00.

The holy grail of non-commercial Duraforce with the coveted 3-Speed transmission (and no electric start) ... made for only 3 model years.

I've already got 2 D-F's and was really was hoping to find a 3-Speed "F" 10515 someday, but this one is in such nice shape I'd hate to pass it up.

I don't need another rear bagger kit (got 3), so I'll also try and see if they would swap it on the non-sp Gold "F" they got sitting right next to it for sale too ... hopefully dropping the price a bit on the 10525.

I've been out of the L-B loop for a while (can't remember the last time I even visited e-bay) ... does everyone else think $200 is a fair price for this ??

Let me know what you guys think !!

Thanks,

Doug

Yes, if it doesn't need any work. That's an okay price, but you can start out offering less. Especially if they remove the bag setup. See if you can find out what work they did to it if any.

I see you like DuraForce units; I do too. :goodl:

I think they were around $450 or so back in 1999. I bought a 10323 from Fleet Farm in Aug-1999 and it was $290 + tax. If I remember right, this was the end of season price and if I would have bought the week earlier I would have bought their LAST floor model 10525 !! Instead I went home & researched the new Duraforce models and went back a week later thinking I'd get the 10525 and all they had left were 10323's.

Yes, I've got a 10424 (bought new from this same dealer, it was his last remaining Duraforce in May 2004) as well as the 10323 that I bought new in 1999.

Prior to 1999 I'd been running my 1977 7024 (avatar) that had been in my family since the early 80's, and since 1994 I've aquired a "V" 10301 and 2 "F" models ... 7035 & 8125.

This 10525 appears to have been well maintained, I'm assuming the dealer took it on on a trade. They put it on hold for me.

The man to talk to was already gone for the weekend, but I'll see him Saturday night and get the full scoop. I'm going to see if he'll take my 8125 & 10301 as partial trade or see if he'll try and sell them for me on consignment (I need to thin the heard and don't want to deal with trying to sell them myself).

In the 10323 packet, I found 11 Duraforce mower info pages printed off from L-B web site dated 7/30/99 ... probably right after seeing these two mowers on sale at Fleet Farm.

On the Gold Pro Spec page (10424 & 10525/10547), I've got the 10525 circled with a note stating "thru 8/10 sale @ FF, $349.00 / reg $489.00.

On the Silver Pro Spec page (10247, 10252, & 10323/10324), I've just got a note besides the 1-Speed stating " 2.6 MPH, same as 2nd gear of 10525".

I obviously had my mind made up that I was getting the 10525, but went back to the store before the sale was over and they were all gone. Went back on 8/14 and bought the 10323 for $289.99 + tax.

To think that if I knew anything about the Duraforce models prior to that 1st visit I could have had that 10525 for for only $59.01 more than I paid for the 10323 makes me almost want to cry or :eck16: !!
