Howdy all,

I'm brand new to baling so this is all new to me. I'm running into a rather substantially anoying problem with this baler. twic yesterday and now 3 times in 3 bales today the area where the teeth feed back the windrow into the roller is becoming jammed up with hay. I mean it is STUCK in there, which means I am on my back under this thing pulling out what looks like at least 2 square bales full of hay from the area at the roller. I had to open the back hatch and use a tool (a long one...) to yank the hay from the back side as well. Other than the jamming it seems to be working flawelessly. I am short 10 (really 20) teeth so I'm running up to get those today. The gap between the teeth and the top is 2" (which is the max I believe). The problem is right when I start up a windrow or when I try to bale in too sharp of a turn (which I quit doing!). The hay itself is pretty normal pasture mix but its pretty mature as it has rained 8 weeks straight before this first cut. Any advice appreciated. Headed out to clear the last jam and then off to Morgantown for parts.

Dr.Phil - whose arms are currently quite tired.

Welcome to the forum! :Welcome1: Not sure what your gremlin is but it doesn't sound fun. Let us know if replacing the missing teeth solve the problem. :)

It's quite sporadic - avg speed about 5mph @ 1800rpm
Definitely wheni come in at any angle the issue is worse but can occur when I run straight into a row. I have discovered a bad bearing on the flapper/starter roller. The opposite side which is attatched to a drive gear has a bold sheared off and a wedge shaped pin seems to be trying to work itself out. So,i will probably replace bearings on both sides of the flapper roller. Also -I bet the hay is not properly conditioned. Since the grass and weeds were post mature I think we should have tedded this for a few days prior to raking and baling rather than just one day. The other guy has a NH 847 and it seems to chew the rows up no problem. Here's the good part -when it works is makes BEAUTIFUL round bales with a nice density. There is also an adjustment I will make to see if we can get the belts to run more true. I think they are tracking poorly because of the bad bearing. Anyway, we shall see!
