Update on NOS hitch + possible new tractor

James (GT80) asked me in my first post that got moved if I bought that hitch, figured I would just answer in a new post. Havent decided if I can swing it this paycheck. I already picked up a three point hitch (complete minus center link) good condition 4 x4 disc harrow, and a 10 inch moldboard for 120. I alslo went to pick up what sounded like a 3 pt rear blade for 50 bucks, turned out to be a sleeve hitch. Argh. SO my allowance might be up for tractor related stuff.

Anyway a guy offered to sell me a new in box (and still bagged supposedly) three point for 75. I would like to buy it, but not sure if I can justify the purchase. Secondly, I had an offer to sell me a 66' with dual wheels (couldnt tell from the description from it so not sure if its the real adapters or a rigged system) as you can see from the pics one set is ags, the other turf, so it makes me suspect already. But it does have a good looking 3 pt, and maybe you guys can help me out, is that a moldboard without a coulter or a middle buster (potato plow)? Said it ran last year, couldnt get it to run this year (again couldnt tell from his description on the symptoms, didnt sound the most mechanically inclined) for 200. If your asking what my hold up is there, I don't have a pickup, so when I pickup tractors I rent a uhaul open air 8X20 for 30 bucks for the day, so between rental and gas its a 300 hundred dollar investment. about 2 hours away in Maine.

Almost positive that is what Sears calls a "Sweep Holder", with a potato plow attached. Looks to be Sears-made, too.

Whatever the case, snap up that new 3-point for $75! You could easily double your money on it if you don't want to keep it. Or, pass the info on to me and I'll buy it to put on my '68. :)

If it looked good, you probably should have grabbed that sleeve hitch back blade and just used it with a 3-point to sleeve hitch adapter.

As far as the back blade: already picked up. I had been toying with getting a hitch for the dgt6000 , so this is a kick in the butt to do it. The adapters are definitely a plan for the 3 pts.

The problem with the nos 3 pt, how can i bear to sell or use a "brand new" piece of gear? ****.

I like that old 66. Looks like it could be about all there. It does look like a Sears "adjustable foot" plow. Wonderin what kind of point on it. I'm looking for the corn point myself. Wanted to try it as a subsoiler. I already have the big sweep and the middle buster but no corn shovel.:crybaby:
If we were closer..your 3 pt hitch will be mine and connected to my 79 Murray GT..All my old garden ground tools are 3 pt ..
Yeah, I think I would have no problem putting a NOS piece of equipment to use. It is what it was built to do.
dude if ur not interested in that NOS 3pt, u buy it, and Ill swing ya some extra $$ + what u paid for it, if it truely is a NOS unit!!!

Great find! :trink40:
Check your pm.
That's beautiful Timmy! I would not hesitate to use it!
Brace yourselves on the hitch. I would imagine you will get a lot of attention because it is an open box new hitch.

Now, what about the possible new tractor? Where's the photos and what kind is it?

I think it is way too pretty to use. Why don't you box it back up and wait another 20 years. Then you can try to sell it then. Hmmm...will there be any suburbans in service 20 years from now?
I have a NOS light Duty hitch, no box though. Was at a show and found the link laying on a wagon, kept picking thru and found the rest of it. Being NOS it has nicks and such so in a way not nice enough for a restored tractor, but to nice to use.

all mine will be!!!!!!!!!

And whats the point of having a hitch if you don't use it? I am not rich enough to stockpile stuff just cause it's pretty. Even my hotrod get used for dump runs sometimes :D

I concur. The true value of these tractors is unlocked when they are used to accomplish tasks. When compared to inflation the value of the tractors depreciates over time (including new old stock) so you might as well get some use for your money.
