Anyone have any experience with the new OPTI-2 oil? Any national chains carry this stuff?

I'll bet the Amsoil guys have something to say as well about the Sabre Oil. So let me hear it. I'm sick of having 3 different jugs of 2-cycle oil sitting around the garage. Thanks.

I just found out that my local hardware store has the Opti-2 oil that hydro is talking about, and I still have to try some for myself. Big names like Opti and Amsoil have big followings and have been doing the "universal mix" thing for a while, and both companies are still going strong. That being said, I can safely say that I will never run Opti or Amsoil at or even near 100-1 in my 16-1 lawnboys.

I have no experience with these oils, but ever since my ryobi locked up I mix a little extra oil in my gas. I feel its easier and cheaper to replace fouled plugs or dirty mufflers than rebulid a motor. I will never run my mix that low.

I have run the Opti-2 for several years in everything (all brands-saws/trimmers/blowers) included)--with no problems.....just last summer--I switched to the Amsoil brand as a test (was given 6 or 8 free packs for gal. mixs....and still no problems..

{I do put in a little less gas than the 1-gal. requirement each time}:thThumbsU

My nose kept this from happening with my Ryobi, I smelled the hot exhaust and then checked on the engine. I saved myself annoying downtime and needless repairs. I son't see any $ savings using aftermarket snake-oil. There's not enough savings using Opti or the others to buy new sneakers or a even trimmer string. I'll be dancing with the gal that brung me from now on, Stihl oil in the recommended mix ratios.

As long as there's petro-fueled motor equipment there'll always be "snake oils" and "water injectiors" saving countless millions of folks billions of dollars! It's fad stuff like "Instant Weight Loss" diets. Clever wording get's 'em every time! You'll lose weight but how sick will you be down the road? You might even be running your colon too lean.:ROF

In a newer machine that uses a lean oil mixture like 50:1 they're probably ok, but I wouldn't use them in any old 12:1 or 16:1 machines. The older motors likely don't have the metallurgy to handle less oil and you sure don't want to be hunting down engine parts which have been out of production for decades. All my machines use 40:1 which I mix to around 36:1. Haven't had an engine problem yet and I've put alot of hours on them. Compression has remained the same throughout the years too.
