I recently picked up this old garden tractor from an auction and I have no information about it. All I know is that under the blue paint is yellowish orange paint, and I think it has an Allis Chalmers engine. I will gladly send more pictures to anyone who asks.
Is that yellow paint under the blue the original color? If so, I think Montgomery Ward painted their tractors yellow. Not sure, but maybe it was Gilson that built them. Here is a pic of a Wards tractor from early 1970s, with very similar grille arrangement and other items that look very much the same as your pic. Foot pad angles to rear fender, muffler and air filter arrangements, rear fender shape, dash board side panel, foot pedal etc.
My father in law had a Gilson that was way over built for a lawn tractor. If yours is a Gilson built machine from that era, it probably is as close to a small tank as they built in those days. You have a heck of a beast to build upon if you do.
The front tire is flat with the beads unseated and sitting in the smaller diameter of the rim making the tire look larger than normal.
