Hi all, I have a TB Horse, 1978 model I am trying to restore. I need to
replace the Bronz worm gear in the wheel shaft assembly but I cannot
get the holder for the bolo tines to come off. I have removed the stud
that holds the Bolotine assembly to the tiller shaft and tried everything
I know to do, without damaging the holder. Any suggestions?
Thanks TBJ

I am no expert and I really don't have suggestions for you, but I am moving your thread to the Tiller Talk forum so that you can get more exposure and the experts can help you out.

I'm sure that one of the guys can help you out.

Are you trying to remove the entire tine assembly? There are 2 bolts that hold it on, once they're loosened, you could tap it with a rubber mallet to break it free.
Be sure the PTO is in the off position.

Thanks Ronnie, Took the bolts out, one side knocked off easily, the other side
refuses to move. I've soaked it with PB Blaster, used a 3 prong wheel puller,
and also struck it repediately with a rubber mallet, also tried heat with a propane
torch-NOTHING-. Oh well, maybe it will turn loose some day lol. I need to remove it
so I can replace the brass worm gear. TBJ

I bought an 80 somethin' horse last spring and had to use lots of oxy/acet. heat along w/ pullers and a BFH to remove the wheel hubs and the tine holders.

Dang, that puppy sounds like it's stuck:banghead3 You might try wedging a punch between the bolt & frame a little at a time while adding more PB to it, it could take awhile at that.

Hoo-Ray That tine holder finally gave up the ghost, and turned loose. I had
left it under pressure with the gear pullers and and frequent soakings with
PB Blaster, went out last night to check it and it had popped loose. Now I
can get on with the restoration. All I need is Parts,Seals, and Gaskets. I would
show pictures but I don't know to upload them. Thanks all for your Help. TBJ

Glad you got it loose. Since I was replacing the seals on mine I didn't worry about the heat to get mine off. That PB is good stuff, I like itbut I have to shoot long distance w/ it or it seems to invariably wind up on my specs.:fing20::fing20:
