Hello,
I am working on a Gilson 53040. Can't find much information online about it.
I need new oil in the transmission, can anyone tell me what spec.oil to use?
There is a plate (attatched photo) on the trans. that seem to read "PEERLESS 9304 208...".

After no response from peerless or the internet in general I've decided to go with 80w90 mineral oil. I drained the old sludge-like fluids and now I can't find where to put the new in

The fill plug should be at the back of the transmission near the hitch. I looked through my manuals and found that it requires 90sae gear oil, 80w-90 sould be fine though.

Thanks, I found 2 plugs. One in the back & one at the bortom. The previous oil level was quite a bit over the rear plug.
I ended up raising the left side of the tractor to get as much oil as I could into the transmission through the rear plug.
I got close to 2 litres/quarts in & that's approx. what I took

out.

I did a little research and found that it does take 2 quarts, but it seems odd that you had to tip the mower to fill it with oil. Maybe i was wrong and your supposed to use the shifter cover to fill the axle.
