tranny help

i just purchased my first tractor its a ford 4400 66 utility with loader and gannon scrapper my ? is on the tranny it is a g code witch is a 4+4 4 speed manual reversing tranny 4 forwards and 4 reverse to in high two in low it appers to be real simular to the 6+4 but without the two extra gears does anyone have any information on the or familiar with them???

Sorry I don't know much about those transmissions, other than I've only ever heard of them being used in the 3400 and 4400 utility tractors. I've heard of the 6x4 manual reversing and 4x4 auto reversing more often, and both of those I've heard of being in the utility (3400 & 4400) and industrial (3500 & 4500) tractors. I think that the 4x4 manuals were the lowest cost trans that Ford offered that was good for loader work at that time. I don't think that they were any less durable or more problematic than the 6x4, I think they just offered it as a lower cost alternative for folks who wanted a factory loader tractor and didn't have a lot of money.

that makes sense about the cost because there is no pto on it im hopeing to see a pic of the shift pattern that would be helpful right now im guesing what gears are what all thats left of my shift decal is R4 witch is in bottom left corner i would think that would have been R3 but R4 is in the same position on a 6x4 tranny but the rest of the gears are a mystery
