Here are some pics of our tractors used on our farm. Any questions, just ask.

first is a shot of our D4D caterpillar and great plains seed drill, behind is our D6C cat and john deere chisel plow.

the D6C chiseling wheat stubble

D4D harrowing

D6C cultivating with wil-rich cultivator

D6C moldboard plowing

this is our older cat that doesn't get much use a D6B and John Deere disk

You may wonder why we use cats for farming with? Well it is fairly common in Idaho, Washington, Oregon and some parts of California to farm with crawlers. This picture should show why.

Cats hold better on hillsides and pull better uphill with better traction, it sometimes makes a big difference especially if a wheel tractor is only two wheel drive. And the working speed is faster than one may think, we can work at 5.5mph with cats. Our three cats were never designed to be bulldozers, they have no blades or rippers, a direct drive transmission and drawbar.

This next picture is courtesy of John McManigal showing what real steep farm ground looks like, and trust me there is steeper farmland than this near here. This D5 cat holds the hillside though.

Okay so maybe you want to see a wheel tractor, we also have two massey fergusons, first is an 1155

pulling a roller with the river in the background

and the 275 pulling the sprayer

I also have pics of our combines with automatic hillside leveling. just a sample

If you want to see more let me know, and if you have any questions about the tractors, farming, area, just ask.

I've never been around operations using crawlers before, so these are really interesting to me.

Thanks a lot and more please!
Beautiful pics. Didnt know anyone still farmed with a crawler other than the newer rubber tracked Cats or the Case Quadtrac.

Great Pictures! That hillside tillage would give me the creeps.
What an absolute blessing that you get to wake up everday and see that while you are farming. Excellent.

What's the upkeep cost on that type of tractor?

Its pretty cheap, just running old equipment requires a winters worth of work in the shop. I would say the cost is lower than that of our wheel tractors.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I will post some more soon, also if you want to see more pics of the scenery and landscape here I have tons of pics of that I can post if anyone is interested.
Oh boy are we ever interested,, just in case no one told ya we are pic junkies, especially that Team Green guy above.
