I looked at a Lawn boy Commercial mower advertised on the local Craigslist and when I saw it in person the ‘boy had a Toro 2 cycle engine! It also had an orange gas tank but it was metal instead of the usual plastic that I’ve seen. I went ahead and passed on it ‘cause it was different, but I’m wondering - was this a legit commercial model? If so, what years did they use Toro engines? How do the Toro 2 cycles compare against a F-series engine?

Yes, Toro was making lawn boys since the early '90's but they never put a Toro branded motor on a LB deck. Definately a "hybrid". lol.

Is that an old Tecumseh snowblower tank? Looks kind of like the plastic one on my 1978 John Deere 8/32 with HM80 engine

This can be done yes, but getting a zuki two banger on a 10515 failed on me...I desire this but the way the belt would have to work, won't.
Without some type of modification, isn't the zuki crank too short for the LB or almost any other mower deck?

Nope, Lawn boy used those tanks on 60s commercials. 6262 had that tank. Some of the old tec tanks look very similar...
No the 6262 has a plastic tank. Here is mine for referance

I posted a link to a push commercial with a zuki 2 stroke and a metal tank on it in the craigslist link awhile back, Pretty cool machine.

Edit.... Just found the link in the Craigslist sticky...

Thats EXACTLY the mower that I looked at in person. When he reposted the ad he had the mower down to $30 w/ no picture. If I would have seen the picture I probably would have passed at that point. It was definately a funky looking mower. I'd still like a commercial for my collection but I want an old skool type like 'bolly's.
