Tired trans and K66 question

Hello,

Looking at upgrading my X320 from K58 to a K66.

Question about K66 trans. I found a used K66M which Tuff Torq told me had the drive backwards - I push forward and it would go in reverse, and vise versa.

Anyone know if it's possible and/or how hard it would be to change this so it works correctly? I thought I remember seeing a post about someone putting a particular part it backwards accidentally and creating this effect.

The K66 would probably need rebuilding so I would be inside of it anyway. Just not sure if it's possible or cost prohibitive.

I live in Houston and initially thought it would be easy to get a rebuild-able core from a JD dealership. After calling a few and telling them what I was doing they lost interest pretty quick, even though I would need parts for the conversion they were not helpful.

So when I started looking non local and found a used one for $75 I was feeling lucky. It was in another state and I would have to have it shipped but seemed worth it. After talking to Tuff Torq and they said the drive was backwards I gave it up for a while.

I figured if anyone knew if this could be done it would be you guys.

Sounds like there are are K66 models that are easier to to use for the conversion?

How do they typically adapt the rear hitch plate? I thought I saw in your post that you moved the plate back about 1/2" to adjust for the linkage and fan pulley being moved forward on the K66.

I remember reading that conversion thread. Have to go back and look. Was that the one that left him with a faster reverse speed than forward?


Talked with the guy that has the trans and did some measuring. You were right on stladrill about the mounting holes being closer together. My initial thought is to have two flat adapters plates made, probably about 4" x 6". Bolt the trans to the plates and they would extend out to where the frame bolts up. If the trans needs to be moved backwards a bit I could adjust one of the sets of holes to accomplish that. Have to do some measuring once the trans gets here.

Thanks for all the help. After reading your post and watching your video of the snow blower I think this will be fun and a great upgrade.
