Wondering what tires would fit on an 8" x 3" rim. I spend a fair amount of time googling but ended up more confused. Thanks!

I think the reason you are getting confused is because of your search parameters. Most tyres for L & G tractors have three numbers which are:
The first number is the height in inches of the tyre.
The second number is the width of the tread of the tyre in inches.
The third number is the rim diameter in inches.
Then you have the normal tractor tyre sizing where in your example of 8" X 3" would give a tyre that is eight inches across to fit on a three inch diameter rim. Not sure of any tractors that have 3 inch rims.

What tractor are you trying to fit tyres to?

John Deere 110-112 round fenders and early 140s with narrow front tires had 3” wide rims. 4.80-8 is the correct tire size.

Edit: 4.80-8 is the correct size for the tractors I listed. It is the equivalent height to 16x6.50-8 tires. 4.00-8 is pretty much the same size as 4.80-8.
