I am going to be rebuilding my Onan BF-MS out of my '74 CASE 446.

I am putting an P218 in the 446 as a replacement. (Oil filters are nice).

To test the BF-MS on a bench I know I will need: fuel, check. battery, check. But I am not sure what I need to do/hook up for spark.

+ battery lead to the starter? (just to start?)
- lead to the engine for ground?
then what

Any opinions?

Thanks.

If it has a car type coil,it will need 12V hot wire,to the positive terminal on the coil to give it spark..if it has a magneto it'll make spark by itself,no power is needed..any "kill" wire will have to be ungrounded in order for it to produce a spark though..
