Hello all. Been reading a lot of posts here about making various accessories and have been inspired to try some fabrication myself. Here's a few things I have been tinkering with. I made a sleeve hitch for my Bolens Tractors and adapted a cultivator that came off of an old Fraiser Farm Graham Paige Rototiller to work with the sleeve hitch. I also just started today making a dump utility trailer out of 1/4 C channel that I got from out in the weeds behind the shop I work, a front axle off of a MTD yard machine, and a flat bed trailer frame that a kid made awhile back and left it with the house.

Nice job! I call that "Recycling!!!" Keep the pictures coming!!

Here's a couple of pics of a dumping trailer that I made last year. It may give you some ideas.

I use a couple of these linear actuators from Northern Tool to do the dumping.

Art the cultivators dig in ok as long as it is fresh tilled soil but for stuff that's packed the tend to ride on top a little. I'm going to either be putting some sort of weight box on it or make a lift arm that doesn't allow for float. Before I painted them I tried them out on my driveway. They dug in enough with a single cinder block on top of them to break up enough so I could come through with the plow and grade in a few low spots.

Shenninger; Thanks for the compliment. Your trailer looks great! Mine is a bit shorter though. The tongue on mine is a total of 70" from the axle and the dump bed is 60"x42". I put the pivot point a little off center so the longer end hangs off the back for more leverage. So far I've spent $50 3 years ago for the MTD lawn tractor the axle came from and about $30 in flux core welding wire. For the sides I'm going to be using some shelves from a paint mixer (the college I work at up graded the mixing machine and this was going to get thrown out) and the bottom I think I will be using either more of the mixing machine or some OSB particle board. For the latch I have some scraps of various handles that I will rig so when you unlatch it to dump it also gives you a handle to help with the dumping. The linear actuators would be a great future investment but for now I'm on a very tight budget and just using pretty much whatever I have laying around. Great looking shop too by the way. Thanks for the pics too....got my wheels turning agian.

Well here's a few more pics of what I got done today. Tomorrow will be the addition of the side boards and tailgate. After a slight modification to the dump frame I've found that I'm the opposite on center so the longer part is towards the tongue. Looks like I might be taking that advice and looking at some linear actuators. For now though it will work fine for the little yard work around here. The last two pics show the dumping handle and latch as one.

Looks really nice! I'll bet yours will outlast any of the over priced, flimsy agr-fab dump carts any day of the week!

Well.........I gave it a test run today. Filled half of it with some wet soil and weeds from the aspargus patch. This is close to being a 2 square yard trailer. The G14 pulled it pretty good and I parked it under the shade tree to take a little rest. I noticed one of my tires was a little soft so I headed back to the barn to pump it up. The axle folded. Back when I first started assembling it I thought to myself "that axle could use some reinforcing.....probably but might be fine enough to get the crap out of the garden." Boy was I wrong:duh:. Getting some stuff tomorrow to make a better axle. Everything else seemed ok though. After I got it up off the ground the a cinder block the dump even worked nicely so sofar my downfall has been that MTD front axle. I also noticed, as I was jacking it up to assess the damage, even though it is 1/4" C Channel the tongue has a slight twist. I have some errands to run tomorrow so I don't know if I'll have a chance to get at the repairs.

Thursday I started to repair my problems and my brand new Black and Decker grinder took a crap. Had to hold off till wifey was able to find the paper work that went with the grinder so we could take it back to Sears. Got the new grinder friday but too late to do anything. Yesterday I did the repairs and reassembled. Had to give it another test before I paint it complete. Here's some pics of it loaded pretty good with dirt and weeds. I'm going to either have to come up with a winch system like somebody elses dump trailer that I seen somwhere on here or go with the linear actuators. It dumped ok but I had to put my back into it a little.
