Time to clean the shop

I found some time to put things away and clean before the next project. Look fast before it is ankle deep in sawdust or metal shavings again. So when did you last get all the cabinet doors to close and the counter tops emptied?

it has been 3 years since I saw the entire top of my work bench, 10.5 years since I saw the whole floor. 3 years ago I moved my bench down along the wall and put my tool box between it and the corner instead of the bench butting all the way over. 10.5 years ago we bought the house. :sidelaugh
There is another type of cleaning the shop that helps the bottom line. I will survey all the items in the shop that are just taking up space. If they have not been moved in say a few years I will post them on Craigslist. If someone needs it more than I do it will be gone. Makes them happy and space is freed up in the shop. I now have more space available to store more new junk.:sidelaugh

Hartland--That shop space looks good--and you are 'light years' ahead of me...Boy--I've got to get mine done in some sem-balance so I can 'project -up' this winter....
However--I did find and consolidate all the house painting supplies and suh-not I had last month and they fit in two big boxes--so I should never have to buy another brush or scrapper.:fing32: Old paint over a year old went to recycle ing place...and of paint ever freezes'==chunk it.

On lookout now for more good stuff to fill the spaces.

It's been 3 years since I've seen my entire garage...
I know the feeling... my was like a quagmire. I was dreading tying to it, but feel better today.
I can still get the door open....
Mine opens about half way. I've been thinking about getting a new door that swings outward. That will surely solve my problem.

If it were to open outward,,you would have to stand to the side every time you opened it ,,,,, or be injured by falling ,,stuff.:sidelaugh:sidelaugh my shop is only 3 years old, and I can't see most of the floor or either work bench .

It is only fair that I show the less cleaned side of the shop.

Maybe less clean, but by no means in any state resembling disarray.

I really admire my neighbor's garge. On any given day, it contains two cars (60s mustank, driving work in progress, and their newer Malibu. On the walls a couple Mustang posters. A small maybe 3' shelving unit containing a few pairs of shoes and cordless drill charging station. That's literally it. It is absolutely immaculate. Even the broom and dustpan are in their shed!

I need to get closer to that goal, if even in the garage that's attached to the house.

Your fastidious neighbor probably has someone else do the work on the Mustangs & Malibu. Probably has a mower shop do all the work on his mower as well. From a medical standpoint He is probably immune to Hoarders Disease.

Incorrect on all points but the hoarder disease. He's VERY meticulous, and an overall great guy!
Does most of his own work on all his stuff except the malibu, which is still under warranty.

I have to admit to putting cleaning of the garage at the absolute bottom of my list, second only to cleaning out the basement.

But, I need to do a brake job on my truck, so I'm going to need to clear at least one bay soon...

Mike
Well I cleaned the shop... not the garage... I haven't seen the work bench in my garage in 15 years. It holds two vehicles, the pickup and the Dodge Journey. It gets swept out, but it is piled high on the garage bench. And since you guys haven't posted disaster photos, I'm not posting photos of the garage bench.

I've always believed, and lived by, that if you can see any portion of the workbench, then you don't have enough stuff on it.

I actually just finished cleaning out the two shop bays to pour the concrete floor. It's been a long road but I can see the end in sight now.

I've been watching your rework DJ. It is looking great so far.
