I was reading many posts over the last two days and a light bulb went off. I had the post about the 12.5 Brigg's that was running at high RPM's and smokeing when I first started it.
I read somewhere here that a stuck float could cause the fuel to run into the piston area and eventually into the oil. It was mentioned that it was one cause of these motors blowing.
Well that is exactly what I found when I drained the oil. There was a pint more than it should have had and it was as thin as water. The smell of gas was very strong. If I had mowed with it I would have risked ending a very good motors life early.
I have put a fuel cut off valve in the line and Sea Foam in the gas so we'll see what happens over the next couple of tanks. A carb. rebuild is probably next but I wanted to try the Sea Foam. I had never heard of it until this site. Their promo that I found when I searched it sold me.
Anyway guys even though I don't know which posts I saw this info in I wanted to tell you thanks and I'll try to repay the favor.
