After seeing somebody using one for working on garden tractors on Youtube, I bought a patient lift, kinda like a mini cherry picker. And mine's all chrome!
The fellow I got mine from had used it to move wood burning stoves. I don't know what the lifting capacity is but I'm sure it will do what I need. I have a reconstructed hip and have to be careful lifting and carrying things. Engines like 10+ HP Kohlers and Briggs & Strattons are pushing the limit for me. This will avoid damaging me, or anything I might lift and drop.

I've had a few of those--when I worked in a junkyard a hospital that closed up in that town, scrapped a lot of their equipment, most of it was stainless steel!..there was maybe 20 of those patient lifts in the pile, and stools, desks, exam tables,etc--seemed a shame for such costly things to be tossed away as scrap metal!..

The ratings on the ones I had were 450 lbs--but I lifted a few small block V8's with one more than once,of course it only went high enough to move it across the garage, not put it in a car...they were great for tractor engines and lifting tractors up to repair them..

I picked up an old lawn swing like the one pictured below that was listed on craigslist under a "free scrap metal" ad..it is pretty beefy,if it can hold two fat adults I'd guess it has a 500+ lb rating..I've used it as a mini gantry crane to work on my tractors,as well as a swing..
