Thinking about a Deutz Allis 916..

A local shop has a Deutz Allis 916 for sale. Price seems really high, but it had me thinking nonetheless! It does come with the snow blower and mower deck. If I can get the price down a bit, then sell the attachments, I might be able to end up with a very solid 916 to play around with. I'm thinking (more like guessing, actually!) that the blower and mower might be worth about $150-200 combined?? This would then knock even more money off of the overall cost.
I know there is a Simplicity and AC counterpart to these tractors (though I do not know the exact model numbers). Do those with these machines like them? If I had something like this I would like to try my hand with a plow in a small garden... Well, what say those in the know. Would this be a capable little GT for a few hundred dollars net?

Looks 100% identical to my 914 allis-chalmers except green. Looks like that one is a hydro, mine is a shuttle shift. Sorry I can't really answer you questions though.
I had a 914 allis and used it for years to mow and plow snow. I also plowed and tilled my garden with it. A very good gt tractor that had no problem pulling a 10 inch plow. :fing32:
That would a very good plow tractor. As would the one next to it.
Amstaff, I like the DA's, I almost bought one instead of my 318. Looks to be in fair condition and I would think a snowblower ought to get you $200 - $300 this time of year (although Ol' man winter is not cooperating to drive prices up!).
I got one. I had to change the color...
It's avery good tractor.

My son has a 7116H Simplicity, which should be the same tractor. It's a 1980 or '81, and has given him good service for many years. They are tough old machines. Plenty of power, and the deep mower deck is hard to beat.
Here's is a pic of my 914 allis with the snowcaster. Not the best pic. How come the sheet metal looks identical. What is the story with allis-chalmers and deutz allis?

I did notice that one too. Seems like a pretty clean Gravely. (They are asking $300 for it)

Ha! I just read your thread yesterday when you picked that one up and painted it (Oliver not JD green!) So you liked it enough to keep it... a good sign!

$300?!! Is the motor out of it? Cripes, I could sell 10 of those in a day at that price.

PA members (and VA) get all the deals. Jeeze Louise. :madpc:

They have it listed for $900 which seems high to me. I have looked at it, but not talked to them about it... Would I be doing OK for about $600 out the door???

First off, I don't know anything about anything, but I was reading a little bit about the Deutz Allis/Allis Chalmers relationship. As far as I can tell, Deutz, a german company, purchaced the tractor portion of Allis Chalmers in 1984 and owned it until 1991. Anyone can jump in her an correct if I am not accurate! During that time Allis produced their tractors as well as some (identical) that were green and badged "Deutz Allis." This is what I read on the internet, so as they say, it must be true!!!

Sounds about right, plus if you read it on the internet is has to be true.

if the machine runs good id say a good deal would be $600 w/ deck & blower.
$700 would be a fair deal.
in my neck of the woods 48" decks & 42" blowers can be found sometimes for under $100 ea. in decent condition. i recently bought a 42" blower w/hitch for a 3400 series for $75.

Allis Chalmers, Simplicity, & Deutz Allis are all brothers of a different color.
good luck on the purchase....keep us posted w/lots of pics :)

I'm not sure if I am going to buy it yet, but I will be taking a closer look at it. If it runs and works well, I just may have to give him an offer!
Well if you go with the Deutz-Allis all you need to attach a Plow to it is this
called a 1point Hitch by Simplicity basically the same as a sleeve Hitch.
One thing I would check on the Deutz-Allis is the Gas Tank Make sure You can fill the whole tank up The Plastic Gas Tanks on this style of tractor tended to crack about halfway up:thThumbsU

Simplicity plows had there own sleeve hitch set up and they used a chain to lift the plow and the chain would allow the plow to float.
