The "new" truck

So guys..here is what I've gone and bought. Isn't it purty?? (Stop that laughing....I can see you! :howdy: )
Anyway- its a 1960 Willys 1 ton 4wd truck. Powered by an original Willys Super Hurricane with its Carter YF carburetor. The transmission is a 3 speed Spicer with high and low range. The truck runs and I'm planning on getting it inspected sometime in January. ( It just needs seatbelts, new drivers side glass, a new horn, and a box of doughnuts for the state inspector:praying: )

Where did you find an unmolested gem like that??
Looks like it had to have been garage kept the last 51 years.

Congratulations!
I want one!!! Trade ya' my 1929 Model "A" pickup!
You don't see those running around very often anymore! Very nice, and don't forget the apple fritters inspectors like apple fritters!
Always liked that style cab--we had a '60 Willys pickup at the junkyard like that one--someone put a 289 Ford V8 in it with a adapter kit..the bed was just plopped on the frame rails when we got it,whoever put it together never finished it,and decided to scrap it..sadly,it was a bit too rotted to bother finishing, and had no title...

Someone up the street from me has a Willys station wagon about the same vintage--looks minty, all stock, painted battleship gray...I wish it was mine!..

Why does it need seatbelts to pass an inspection? I thought if a vehicle was built without seatbelts they were not required. I understand if you want them, but didn't know the state could make you add them.

Agreed. I live in Va, and had a 51 Willys for years. Got it inspected many times with no seatbelts in it. It just has to have everything funtional, that was original. Like the horn, and turn signals, if it has them. My CJ3A only had a horn, headlignts, parking lights, and brake lights.

True enough, but I certainly don't fault JD40 for wanting to add them to the truck.

Thanks guys. The seatbelts are not required for inspection, but I want to put them in before hand so that I don't put it off. I need to find a horn to put in it,as the old one doesn't work. I'll probably end up getting something cheap from pepboys or autozone. However, if anybody has horn reccommendations feel free to let me know.

I had to retrofit seat belts in old vehicles here when they passed the seat belt laws...sold a lot of the aftermarket ones those years too..

Not wearing a seat belt gets you a 50 dollar fine and will get you pulled over quickly here, and its rare that is the ONLY violation they'll write you up for...they'll run the plate, check the inspection sticker--and see if you smell like booze or weed, which is the main reason I think they passed the law in the first place--not so much to promote "safety",as to gain revenue....
