Hi My name is Jerry. I am also from middle Tennessee and married with no children but have two dogs that are like kids. I have always been a snapper owner and have found myself in the middle of a total mess with it when the rear end went out (never dealt with this area before). So now I am trying to learn how to repair it myself and happened upon this forum. I hope to meet other snapper owners who repair their own riding mowers and learn new things and hopefully share what knowledge that I have learned over the years.

Thanks for the welcome Tudor!

My Snapper is a 421613BVE SR170 or at least it was before I tore it down. :hide:

It was working fine till I was mowing and it stopped on me wouldn't go forward or backwards. I thought it was going to be something simple to fix with just replacing the axle bearing because it was in pieces. Not so simple! Seems I am going to have to replace the short axle because it is worn pretty bad. I just can't figure out once I put everything back together what is going to keep the wheel from coming back off since I was able to just get a hold of it and pull it off when I got it to the garage. I just can't wrap my mind around it. I haven't never been on a forum before so please forgive my ignorance and guide me gently if I am doing this wrong. :sorry1:

No problem, Jerry. I was new to this forum gig just 4 years ago. Now look what I'm doing.

I'm into hydraulics and heavy GTs, so I'm not much help with your problem. Take your question and post it in a new thread in the Snapper Forum of the Lawn and Garden Tractor by Brands section. The guys there are really up on the smaller mowers and should be able to sort you out in short order.

Here's the link to that forum if you need it. Good luck!
