[Cementhead]

Buddy of mine asked me to take a look at a snowblower he just picked from a guy selling his house,5.5 hp tecumseh L head on a White branded MTD.The machine is in good shape,doesnt look like its had much use.It blows oil out the breather at a pretty good rate so after some exploring I pulled the head.The cyl is in good shape,still has the cross hatch,no scratches or score marks but the exhaust valve guide is real loose.I have worked on a lot of these Tec engines over the years,most were abused,neglected etc. and have never seen one with the guide this loose.While not really a fan of these engines I have usually found them to be a decent unit.Any thoughts on why one with obviously low hrs has this problem.

Oversized valve should fix it. You have to ream the guide 1/32" over though. Shouldn't be too hard to locate a valve for that unlike the older stuff.
