Tecumseh OHV17 Cam Repair kit

Has anyone here ever installed one of these? It is supposed to be a replacement Mechanical Compression Release lever. I ordered one (still has not arrived), but I can't figure out how to remove the old one. It is held on by a small pin driven through the face of the cam gear and into the exhaust lobe.....but the hole does not go all the wya through! There's no way to drive it out and it's countersunk into the hole so I can't pull it out either.
