I am working on a toro recycler 22" self propelled mower with a TECUMSEH LV195EA 6.5hp engine

I can not get this engine to stay running, if I read the tec repair manual correctly, this carb is a series 6 and nonadjustable

anyhow what I have done so far was pulled the carb a clean it, added new fuel line, new plug, new air filter. also tried to run a bit of sea foam through it with fresh fuel.

I got spark, and the bowl is filling with fuel, but I can not get the thing to fire up, if I hit it with a start fluid it will run for a bit, which tells me its a fuel delivery problem. the only thing I have not replaced is a total carb kit and a new primer bulb. any ideas or if you all think I am heading in right direction with this. TECUMSEH parts are not in great supply around here so I would have to order them.

If I were doing this, I'd be pulling the carb one more time. I would check the vent system to the float bowl, and what effect the primer bulb can have on the engine pulling fuel from the carb. If the bulb is punctured or 'cracked' from age, it may be interrrupting or leaking the vacuum that the engine develops when cranked that pulls fuel into the passages.
Some bulbs pressurize the float bowl to force fuel up and out a port, others pressurize a passage all to itself. In either case, check how the bulb works, and maybe coat it with some RTV, let cure, and prime with a squirt of gas. That lets the bulb stay 'intact', and sealed, and see if it will fire off. You then may know you need to replace the bulb.
You may be able to use the bulb with the RTV on it, or put the RTV on the inside of the bulb, whichever applies by your opinion, and it may flex enough to test the primer function.
Either way, a blockage or a broken 'siphon' or 'vacuum' is preventing fuel from being drawn from the bowl.

Might want to check the small orings that are around the main jet. They tend to go bad and no fuel will be fed to the throttle body

My sons Personal Pace has a LEV120 so the carb may be different but I had a hard time finding all the little holes that had to be cleaned out. Here's the thread with pictures of some of the unexpected holes. http://www.mytractorforum.com/showthread.php?t=270038&highlight=

thanks for the replies fellows

I tried them, what I found was a small hole on the side of the carb body that was closed off with a small bit of dirt. if I would have not taken the carb back off I would never have seen it, way to many small holes on this bugger. so what I did was use the pieces of the carb kit I had ordered, got it for 9.00 on ebay, and I put in a new primer bulb that I got from there as well for 5.00. anyhow with a little playing on the only screw you can adjust on this it runs like a top now, smokes a bit, but I am thinking it was loaded up from all the attempts to start it, also with the seafoam in it. should clear up.
