hi guys,, i have a tecumseh engine /gokart model ohh60.. it is low on compression 30#... i am just wondering if new standard rings would be good to get compression back up or rings and piston.. i would appreciate ya'll thoughts .. thanks c falcon
That engine also has a compression release system to aid in starting so compression readings are not accurate, always low and not really worth doing. So you have to take it apart to see if it needs rings or not. The engine is only 6 HP so it is never going to be race fast. Roger
Could try squirting a little heavy oil in cylinder....repeat compression test..If it jumps up much higher, than new rings will do it,...Faster check, pull valve cover and be sure you have some clearance on exhaust valve...IMO
