Ouch! You're not supposed to do that until it is at least a year old. :fing20:
Hope you didn't get hurt.

You are not supposed to teach them those kinds of tricks!

Hope everyone is safe. Let us know the details so we teach it to ours.

Remember, shiny side up!

Been there, done that, did not enjoy the experience! Still haven't got the engine sorted out.

Sure hope your tractor faired better than mine. The fact that you posted tells me that you survived the experience, hopefully with no injuries?

WOW.. bet u got a BIG surprise.. also let me take a guess on how that happened.. u scooped up a bucket full of rock.. tilted the bucket back .. then raised it up & turned the sterrin wheel to the left to back up.. at this point the rear wheels came off the ground.. since the main weight was on the front wheels & the bucket.. the rear end went to the left.. at this point gravity took over & pulled the machine on it's side..

now I do hope u were able to walk away from it with no injuries when the dust settled..

wow tell us the story.

Well Whirly was correct. Bucket full of gravel. Nice Big scoop! Bucket was higher than I realized. I was lowering it as I started to back up turning left. May have been ok, but left tire hit a rut. Looked flat but full of ruts. . Just had time to hold on and tuck in. The loader helped hold it up off ground. The ROPS & belt worked great. Was a little difficult to get seat belt in hooked with 210lbs pulling on it. If it had been in water not good. Something to cut seatbelt will be going next to buckle for that scenario. Wasn't sure what to think when I shut key off and it kept running and smoking like a freight train. Finally died and took about 30 min for starter to work to turn over engine. Vapor lock? Started finally and really smoked for a while. Only busted one light flasher lens and my ego. Live & learn. Be safe and wear belt w/ ROPS whenever possible.

Try undoing the belt with 230 lb hanging from it. I need to shop around for a seat belt with a lever type release, rather than a push button. As you mentioned, the push button is bad news if water is involved. How this one got by the safety specialists is beyond me. Come to think of it, it could apply to cars and trucks as well.

The run-on was the engine oil subbing for diesel oil. Laying on its side let the engine oil onto the cylinders. It shut down when there was too much engine oil to fire effectively, and then the oil filled the combustion chamber causing a hydraulic lock in each cylinder until it drained back into the crankcase. I had to pull the injectors before my starter would turn the engine.

Hint: Cover the injector ports with a heavy rag before cranking the engine. There was a 10' diameter circle of black oil spots around my tractor when I cranked her over. My $275 Stetson looks like a leopard's hide now. I wasn't thinking! :hide:

You gotta be careful with these smaller tractors, since they are fairly narrow compared to the height their bucket can reach. Lucky you were wearing seatbelt!

I almost rolled my 5300 once. Came so close. Lowered the bucket in time as it tetered on front axle pivot with back wheels off the ground. My seatbelt was broken and I wasn't wearing it at the time.

I fixed my seatbelt after that close call.

I'm EXTRA careful now. I still have a bad habit of mowing with ROPS down though because of limbs. There's one short bank I mow part way up and it always goes on three wheels. Doesn't feel likes it's going over, but just how the ditch is. It's the other steep banks I mow across that makes me pucker a little.

Gary, not to be a preacher, but you should use the ROPS and go around the branches if possible. If you absolutely can't use the ROPS, then you should not wear the belt. This way you have a chance to jump off and get away from the tractor if it starts to roll. I will still emphasize that you should use both the ROPS and the seat belt.
