OH yes..my wife thinks I am nuts for sure!
If any of you remember, I just got rid of my two JX75's.

While checking out a local tag sale, I came across this JD 14SB and I just had to buy it.
I already have a new blade, belt, plug and filter left over from my JX's. I think Sunday is going to be a day for servicing the 14SB. There is no doubt the mower has low hours.

Any idea what these sell for on ebay?

Ohhhh.........that's a good looking JD.... hope the price was good too.
Very nice find! Congratulations!
Good eye..... checking out Craigs list early are we???

I figure, if I could spin it quick and make a few bucks, why not? Once I start using it, it will never look this good again. I spent the morning servicing it and cleaning it up. The mower really is clean. I threw it out there to see if I get any bites, if not, that's fine to, it's a great mower for the collection. My storage space is a small shed and this limits my collection.

Honestly, my goal is not to make money, it's nice, don't get me wrong, but I truly enjoy finding good mowers and bringing them back to life. Heck, I rebuilt a 10550 and have way more into than it's worth but I just simply enjoy the time in the garage. Radio or TV on and to make it better, a good rainy day. Oh did I forget to mention...time alone and not running the kids to softball, swimming and and...

In this case, I just could not pass it up. Underneath the dust, I knew this mower could look like it does. It actually look's way better now since I gave it a good going over. The picture you see is after a quick hosing and plastic shine. Now, after an early, like 5am early, servicing and waxing, it looks almost new. I was told it was used very little but we heard that one before. In this case, it seems very true.

Certainly wish it was super clean 2 cycle Lawn Boy.

To see or should I say brag a bit, do a Google for DC Plastics. Click on Bike Show and scroll down until you see the Yellow Yamaha YZ 125 with the water and mountains in the background and just underneath or above, I forget, the Blue Yamaha IT 200 on my lawn. These are two of my most recent vintage motocross bike restorations.
In my past life... I raced motocross and worked at a bike shop.

What are asking for it? Yes, I know you won't ship it...
that mower is better than ANY lawnboy.in fact its the finest lawnmower ever made. lawnmower desighn dosnt get any better than this one. you should keep it and sell something else to make room
Yes, I do agree, these mowers are the best ever made. I have a LB 22271 and I really do like it better. No, it does not have the blade clutch (thank God) $100.00 + from JD and it does not have the 5 speeds, this I kinda wish I had. However, I never used any other speed than #3. With a little adjustment, I got my LB 22271 at that speed. The Honda motor is much, much quieter and runs smoother. Overall, I like the feel of the LB better. I think the solid, one piece handle gives it a real strong feeling.

well i hope yours find a good home. i am lucky enough to have one of these babys with out the bbc . its an ultra rare 14sc (commercial) has oil filter. its truly a pleasure to use. also have1 jx75 a nd a -jx 85(commercial but with the dreaded bbc)and one 14sb running but have parts to make several others. i also took a kawi eng from an 14sb and put it on a jas 62 (2 speed w/briggs) . speed n03 also my fav . the comm models of these deere mowers also have extra handle bracing along with a beefier handle and feel much more solid also. the metal wheels have replacable ball bearings and there is even a added wear gaurd liner for the underside of the deck that protects the deck from damage due to striking foreign objects. truly an impressive mower but cost was very high 1300$ ! its little wonder few were sold

Well, the guy who I arranged to meet tonight to buy my SB14 never showed up. I raced home from work, pulled the mower out and waited and waited and he never came, no call, no email.

Well, looks like I am gong to have to keep it! I started to have second thoughts after I really buffed it up and got a little attached. Wow...did I just say that "a little attached" to a lawn mower???
Yea....I did say it. You must admit ....she's a looker aint she!

Can ya tell I am glad the guy never showed?

Yep, it's got destiny written all over it, that is a heck of a mower and If I had one, it would be a hard one to give up for sure.
I probably should never post how much I paid but it only makes the find and story that much better. Oh, before I give the price, did I forget to mention I actually pushed it home. Ready......$75.00!:bannana: :bannana: :bannana:
I found a few of those on craigslist for about $75 a piece, let's just say they didn't last long at that price.
