Suburban Mower Blades

10116 Views 14 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  86Sumo
I purchased my first Suburban tractor last week and I noticed that Sears no longer has a part listing for the blades for the 42" mower deck (917.253580). Does anybody have any suggestions for a source for appropriate blades for this deck?

GT_80 bought some gator blades for his 42" deck, hopefully he will post the link here :thThumbsU
regular blades

Gator blades

I bought the gators- close to $50 with shipping but well worth it! About the only place online that still has them in stock.

Is online my only hope? I have not looked locally, but I saw in the manual that they mount with two bolts, rather than the single bolt like most blades I have seen. Is this the availability issue?
I bought some at napa one time but any place the deals with lawn mower parts should work.
You can find them new on ebay too and the prices aren't too bad. The seller has them for the 48"(?) deck too.
One of the local NAPA dealers near me handles a VAST array of small engine and tractor parts. They also have a machine shop. They told me they could match up a comperable blade and drill it to fit, on the very slim chance they couldn't find the correct blade. Perhaps you have a shop near you with the same service.
I need new bladeds but im not sure of the width of my deck. Where do i measure it to determine the size. the current blades are 14 1/4 wide. I also need to know the length of the belt inside the deck. The one i measured at 91".

Thanks

The Suburban 42" decks has 14 9/16" long blades ( takes 3) that went on the 42" deck. Check up in the sponsers section under Midwest Mower, one of the member posted last month buying new blades from them for his 42" suburban deck.
I think the deck belt is 91 or 92" belt, but would have to find it.
I ordered mine from here, http://www.sjmparts.com/
Send the order last Thursday night and should be here tomorrow.

Belt to the 3 deck spindles on my deck is 1/2" x 92" or a A-90 ..mine I think is a 48" deck, but the belts are probably the same on a 42" one..the drive belt from deck to the engine on mine is 5/8 x 103" ,but I'm using a B-99 belt thats 102" on it now and it still works fine, just had to adjust the threaded link to the mule drive a bit to make it work OK..
Can I get a measurement across the deck. Or from spindle to spindle. I think it may have the wrong blades now. There is some space between the tip if the blade and the deck body. My dad keeps telling me its a 48 but it sounds like it may be a 42.

Wow, you brought up a 3 year old thread. If it should turn out that you have a 42" suburban deck I think these will be your cheapest, Prime line.

Same place also has a different brand set of blades for both the 42" and 48" decks at slightly more money. It will be necessary for you to determine what deck you have - to be sure.

42" standard OEM spec,

Part number 9480R should be the 42 inch blades. The Oregon part number is 95-010.

Sears sells them but they are higher priced than Agri-Supply.
Hi, I don't know how old your deck is but, I have an older 42 inch deck, I think it's from 1967 on my ST 12 and the blade part number is 25118. The center hole is 5/8 inch. The blade length is 14 5/8 inches.
From the middle of the center quill shaft to the middle of the outer quill shaft is approximately 14 3/4 inches.
