The Deere grill emblem, especially on the older machines was more than a decoration, it was the handle to be used for removing the grill. But since it was up front near the muffler, the plastic would get brittle (wasn't the best design in the first place) and break off, or just break off from impact. It's become sort of an inside "joke" here on the site, that a restoration wouldn't be complete without that emblem, and that (as mentioned above) a tractor with it's original emblem was owned by a person that cared and loved the machine. I've bought a couple of 'em and I imagine Deere sells a bunch every year.
