I have had to download some Realtek and US Robotics driver software recently.

Neither of the downloads is self-extracting and there is a trailer with the download that suggests using Stuffit to expand the downloads.

Is Stuffit a safe program and since when have downloads from program providers stopped being self-extracting?:eek:mg:

Thanks for any help, experiences, and insights.

I am not familiar with Stuffit. I have been using winzip for a long time. Some programs you have to unzip with a program. There are many free unzip programs around.

I believe Stuffit is for opening up Mac files . As far as I know it is safe to use . There are 2 versions I know of , shareware and a pay version .

Stuffit was the de-facto archive/compression tool on the earliest Macs. Never really that friendly a tool so it's slowly getting pushed out. Generally though I think you could still say that Zip compares to Windows as Stuffit compares to Macs.
