I am in need of a lawn edger... I have Multiple Stihl trimmers laying around that I picked up from a landscaper. If i was go get the Cutting head and the bent shaft, could I bolt it up to my trimmer FS90 head? Should have plenty of power with the 4-mix.

I just answered my own queston. Stihl makes attachments at the gearbox for an FS 90.

Yep, rather than trying to find the bent shaft with the gearbox to make a curved shaft edger, I'd go with the gearbox atachment Stihl offers and make yourself a straight stick edger. More power to the cut.

How do you like the 4-mix? I really like the torque these engines put out. Especially for tasks like edging. They have a nice sound to them too!:fing32:

How many of these trimmers do you have? Stihl makes hedge trimmer and pole saw gearboxes too, but these might get a bit pricey. Sometimes, they'll pop up on Ebay.

I love the 4-Mix. I have 2 FS90R's, FS85RX, and 2 FS80's and a 90 powerhead. I had two other 90s and a 100. But sold them. I can put that 90 into anything and it doesn't skip a beat. The only thing i dislike is I am impatient destroy the string. I need to get cutting blades and yes the neighbors definitely know when I am trimming as opposed to anyone else. It sounds so nice. I want to get rid of everything but the two 90's. Thinking about the hedge trimmer for it as well.

Wow. That's a nice collection you got there. All from the same landscaper?

If you're impatient with loading trimmer line, take a look at Shindaiwa's Speed Feed head. http://www.shindaiwa-usa.com/Products/Speed-Feed.aspx It will fit Stihl trimmers as well. If you wouldn't want this, Stihl makes a Polycut head with three plastic blades on it. Works well. I have one for my trimmer.

When you say you have a 90 powerhead, do you mean just the engine, or a Kombi multi-tool motor?

Yes, all from one landscaper. I found it all on ebay. I ended up with i think 11 tirmmers, a redmax and stihl back pack blower, 4 hand stihl blowers(parts), a stihl hedge trimmer, 2 cheap chainsaws. Paid just over $400 for all of it. It all needed work but ran some sea foam through some of it and it starts right up. Sold most of it off now but still have stuff laying around. About the 90, it is just a motor... no spark plug in it and it was seized. I got it turning again with some sea foam. I put that stuff on my pancakes. It works for everything.
