Hello all,

My 1970(?) B276 has close to a full turn of play in the steering. Most of this is due to endplay in the steering column shaft - as I turn the wheel, it winds the shaft up out of the column 3/4 of an inch before whatever's functioning as a thrust bearing stops further movement and forces the pitman arm to move instead. My question is this: is the worm gear/shaft thrust bearing located in the upper part of the column, or is it in the actual steering gear box? And, is it adjustable or is this a replacement/rework item?

Thanks!
