Just a little bit of information on starter chains for old T head Gravelys.

The chain is a No. 35 roller chain.

The length of a starter chain is 29 inches plus a master link, or 38 links plus master.

TSC sells a ten foot roll of No. 35 roller chain with one master link, SKU# 1150036, and that will make four starter chains for an old Gravely. You will also need a few extra master links.

As of this writing, the cost is eighteen dollars for a ten foot roll.

I doubt many here have a chain breaker, but a grinder works for cutting chain.

Roger.

Number 35 chain is also what's used on the MA-210 chute rotator. I don't remember the length.

Timely post. I just pulled a starter to clean it up. Put it back on, didn't realize chain was on quite right, and broke chain. Thanks!

I bought a chain breaker at tractor supply. I could 78 links when I make a chain ?

BTW my Autolite starter machine takes a #41 chain. It will hopefully be at the mow in for people to see...

What is a link? Is it the part with a roller at either end, or the part with the side plates? I cut a chain counting the part with the rollers and came up too short.
