Start seed potatoes in July?

Can I start seed potatoes in July and expect some type of crop to develope before they die off?
Local market had a handful of potatoes that had some 'eyes' pretty well along sitting on the shelf. My first planting isn't coming along too good (too much rain), 50/50, so I'm up to putting together another raised bed IF I can get some product out of them new starters.
What cha think? :dunno:

Well, they're in, 9 of them. Now we'll see what happens.
Built an above ground planting area using timbers that I picked up on the side of the road. Local carpenter was re-building a deck that was removed by one of the ocean storms last winter. Some nice 2x6 and 2x8 planks, 4 - 5 feet long. He has no place to store them, so they go to the dump. Not these, plus 4x4 and 6x6 blocking, 4x4 posts, etc., etc.
Got enough wood stove fire wood cut and split from the same re-build. Even some nice 1/2 inch plywood.
I'm using 100% leaf mold as 'dirt'. Got another raised bed with it in it, the plants are going wild in it, they love it and it retains moisture. It, too, was free.
All 12 starters have broken thru so I'm back filling them. Three more going in Monday. Atleast I'll have some green bushes to hide all the rest of the stuff I planted planted.
No idea what kind I got. We'll find out when we dig them up, if there is any. Nice healthy bushes though.
