Sta-Bil versus Sea Foam

1879 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  GT_80
I called a friend to remind him to put Sta-Bil in his tanks at end of season and was informed that He will use Sea Foam instead. Someone had told him that Sea Foam didn't deteriorate gaskets and seals like Sta-Bil would.
I have always used Sta-Bil in the gas tanks on my mowers, Tiller, weed eater and some seldom driven vehicles.
I would appreciate other viewpoints on this.
Thanks, Marvin

PS, I looked and didn't find a more approiate thread to post this on.

I use to use Stabil, but now use Seafoam. Helps keep the carbs clean also! Don't know about the gaskets and seals.:fing32:
Stabilizes gas for 2 years-------wow!!!

Looks like a decent product. How does the cost compare to the ones I mentioned?

I've seen it for about $10-.I've heard from a few friends it's REALLY good stuff.I'm gonna pick some up tomorrow :fing32:.

I'd like to give it a try too, not real happy with the sta-bil or the JD stabilizer, but I don't see where you purchase it at ?.
I've used Seafoam to clean the carbon off pistons in several engines I've owned, never as a gas preservative.

I've used Stabil in the past, but quite honestly, I used nothing in my 2 stroke tanks this past winter and all of the tools (backpack blower, weed wacker, chainsaw and hedge trimmer) ran fine all summer.
I've never had the need to put stablizer in anything that has a oil mix with it, as most have stabilzers in the oil mix anyhow, and never had a problem. The tractor I don't to use anything with it either as it runs year round, but my power washer was a bear this year trying to get started :(. I usually run it dry and let it set then just put fresh gas in the spring on first use, but forget last year and it took a bit to get it running .
I have never personally used stabil... heard mixed things about it. I use seafoam a lot but never as a stabilizer. Best stuff i have ever used is soltron

similar to that startron enzyme mentioned here.
