ss18 spitting oil

im looking for some help.i just got a ss 18 125 compresion in each cylinder and runs good.problem is the crankcase is building pressure and spitting oil out the breather.any help would bee appreciated. i also have a ss16 it runs perfect.thanks.

Oil pump pressure relief stuck ? I never had the problem but have heard of it happening.

Maybe someone else will know more.

I'm guessing it's not over full of oil ?

You could also try the "small engine" forum here on mtf. Just put "Onan spitting oil" or something like that. Lot of tractors had Onans don't have to be a craftsman owner. :goodl:

thanks tommy. i looked in small engines but found nothing.i guess ill tear it apart and look at the pump.

my st-16 spits oil when its overfull. Thats how i nearly burned it to the ground a couple days ago :D.
well i did a complete tear down today found nothing out of the ordinary deglazed the cylinders.cleaned it put back together.fresh #30 oil.same thing.the only thing i can think of now is a week sprin on the reed valve on the breather side.
A bad seal on the dipstick can cause problems like that, or any leak allowing air in, such as a bad crankcase breather assembly as you mentioned.
