Sprucing up the old Rotary Cutter

After my father passed, I salvaged an old Rotary Cutter that had been sitting behind the garage (unused) for about 18 years. A little rehab, some fresh paint and it is time to put it back to work.

Are you sure that you didn't find the mower in the second pic as NOS from your dealer?

That looks great! Fantastic job. Did the inside of the gearbox look good too?

It was in great shape all I had to do was change the oil. Getting the old blades off was a different story!

I didn't think about the blades. I'll bet that they were a real bear.

You did a great job and it shows. :fing32:

I do have a question for you regarding the paint. Looks great by the way.
Did you grind down, prime the spray?

Here's what I did with a few of my projects and things worked out great. Wire wheel or blast what ever is warranted. I roll on with a good roller rusty metal primer (old red-lead)and let it cure well, then I mix my own rustoleum to get the green and again get a good 1" by 4" roller and go to town. Nearly no brush or roller strokes and a very hard coating.

Yes lots of grinding, very thorough cleaning, primer, 3 coats of paint all spray. Nothing fancy Rustoleum works for me just need to let it setup well before final assembly.
