Picked up an aerator. Will be my 1st experience using one.
Have a spring tooth dethatcher, use that often.

Looks like you got a job ahead of you, now...early/early spring--aerate and over seed..

Does that one have a hole w/ a plug for 'fill port'?

Hole with plug in the drum. Holds 48 gals of water. Heavy without 400 lbs of added water!

Nice unit. 1st aerator I have seen with a seeder on top. Great idea! No more walking around with a hand crank seeder.

Have any under ground sprinklers? Mark the heads before you start out so you don't run over them.
(Rather not say how I know that.)

No underground sprinklers. Ground 'round here is hard! The area I live in is named "Rockhill", it is. :tango_face_surprise

I do often use a heavy duty dethatcher.

With a Wheelhorse pulling it! You didn't say all that--I have -ummm, several W/H here-abouts....
Before you put water in that machine and use never -seize on the threads--every time (don't ask how I know this..

I also have a spring tooth dethatcher. After I spread and compact loam, I set the dethatcher to maximum depth and use it to score the loam before seeding.

I also use it at max depth to rip up dead crab grass clumps before reseeding. It works well for both.

But as noted, I first put out marker flags at my sprinkler heads.

Looks midevil...I have a Brinkley aerator/seeder that gets towed around just to air the soil out. A board in the hopper lets me throw in a few cement blocks for weight. After the yard is chewed up, I then use weed N feed on it. This ensures the grass and everything else dies or gets killed. Sucks, but oh well.
