Drove out to El Paso TX in December and just got home so some pictures from the military. The 1st Armored Division returned from Germany and moved into Ft. Bliss, TX which used to be the home of my branch of Air Defense that moved to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Several of my in-laws and my brother were assigned to the 1st AD during their careers. No navy in my family but was close to Seawolf park in Galveston so took a tour of the USS Cavalla SS-224 "Lucky Lady" submarine and the Destroyer Escort USS Stewart DE-23 "President's Escort". Here are the pics for your enjoyment:

Wow, what an impressive vacation, Tim! That equipment sure has a lot of history with it. Going aboard and seeing the commemorations around can sure put things into a different perspective and increase one's love for our country in a different way than they had before. It must've been a real tribute to take that trip with your family too.

Thanks for sharing the photos with us. :)

Anybody knows where there are some 40 mm Bofors guns around that could be used for parts they are looking and the Executive Director would like to get his hands on them. I have his contact info if anyone knows anything.
