Solution to Noisy/Squeaking L-Series Hood Hinge

Since taking ownership of a L110 several weeks ago I found opening or closing the hood would create a loud squeaking noise that grew old very quick so I found a simple yet effective solution. The noise was also heard when mowing as the hood flexes with the frame creating the noise on bumpy ground. I searched on MTF & didn't find this posted anywhere so I thought I'd post my solution.

#23 spring rubs against #7 bracket creating the noise.

I unhooked the headlight wiring & removed the hood & removed the hood bracket from the hood itself. I then removed the hood latch spring & cut some 1" ID oil hose I had laying around(garden hose would work as well) into the length I needed then cut the hose open so it would fit around the hood latch sping & held it onto the springs with zip ties. Reassembled & sprayed some white grease on the metal between the hood hinge & the frame & now no more noise when opening & closing the hood of the L110. I can't wait for the next time I mow to see how much of a difference it made as well.

My way was a little cheaper, lol :fing32:

Going from a L130 to a 445 must've been a quite the upgrade!
