i have a murray lawn mower model 40507x8a the motor has been switched to the briggs 14.5 hp i had a problem with the solenoid on the carb and was told i could break off the pin that closed off the fuel so the mower would run. i did that and the mower will now start and idle and i can drive it but as soon as i try to engage blade it sounds like it loads up and stalls. i tested seat switch and it is good. blades are turning freely could the solenoid be causing all these problems. please help yard is overgrown.

its a small brass electric solenoid in the bottom of the carb bowl used to shut off the flow of fuel when the mower is off. a small rod goes through the center of the bowl which i took off to open the flow of fuel

Not if you cut off enough to allow unobstructed flow of gas. I like to use a regular threaded plug and just remove the solenoid if defective.
