The only thing I've heard being an issue with that model is the transmission. Aside from that, it has the reliable f-engine, and the commercial wheels / tank. $40 was an excellent deal... even if it didn't run.

That is a great find! It is a Suburban model. It is like a commercial model Lawn-Boy, but the Suburban doesn't have the guards and the color scheme is different. I have heard that the Suburban models, like yours, were built in the 1980's for families that had large yards that needed alot of gas to mow their grass. I have a push model with the staggered deck. It is a 1986 (the only year it was made) model 6430. It is not in the greatest shape, but I got it for $5 at a junk yard, and that mower is no junk! And, if I were you, I would definately keep that wonderful mowing machine! You do know it's 2-cycle, right? Hope this helps!:fing32:

It says commercial on the engine and it has grease fittings.I was surprised to see that!I'm gonna look for a "bare bones" older model, with no drive/bagger.I may keep this one also???Any idea of the value?(ball park)

Just asking, you said you knew nothing about this when you bought it. Just to make sure that fine mower keeps a workin', did you run a 32:1 gas/oil mix in it? Just want to help ya!:fing32:
I know about 2 strokes,but thanks for the advice!I've seen many a saw/trimmer ran on straight gas.....:00000060:
