Finally got my nephews 1983 Gilson Snowblower working the way it should. It has solid rubber tires on it that are all but shot. Those tires have the "V" tread. I can't use the wheels so I have to buy new wheels but my question is, which tire is better for traction; the "V" thread or the "LUG" type tread? I'm thinking about buying these. I know years ago everything had the "V" tread on it and now everything seems to have lug style tires. Just wondering if one is better than the other.

All the snowblower's I've seen and bought have had lugs (Ariens, Toro, Gravely, Husqvarna, Honda).

I would expect the lugs to at least work better in both directions (forwards and reverse) compared to V-style tread.

The lugged for sure! They have a new updated "snow lug" tire out now also that has the lugs on the side, and bars in the center that also work vary well!! I used to use the lug ones on my GT's also. Worked amazing!, but they did chew up the yard a bit. But in the snow?.... they are great!
