Do you guys run them on your blade ?

Anybody have an alternative to the NLA Sears Skid shoe 9026M ?

I'll be plowing a cement driveway, across a paved road.

I have a peice of thick rubber mounted between the blade and the replaceable cutting edge. I found that this works pretty well for clearing snow off a concrete driveway without scraping the driveway too badly. It also makes the transistions from pad to pad much smoother. Plus, it is a lot quieter than dragging a steel blade across the driveway. I don't think I have any pictures that I can easily post, but I am sure somebody has some photos. I got the idea here.

That's a good idea.

While searching for rubber, I found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120488500299&category=92072&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619. Upon further research it looks like airports and other use a urethane or rubber cutting edge.

I only have 25' X 75' of drive to plow. So I think it would last for a reasonable amount of time (couple years). It would probably give a little cushion when hitting cracks/curbs.

Anybody ever try a rubber cutting edge ?

I put a nylon like one on a plow , and was ( and still am) rather impressed. Seems to cut hardpack better than rubber, but neither does not do the job a steel cutting edge does. Better than marring up driveways though, and better than running shoes IMHO.

This one was something on the order of 60 dollars from a local ATV/ motorcycle shop.

I was thinking about the 1" X 4" X 5' , can't buy less than 5', $5.80/ft. Total would be $29.

They also have a 1500psi and a 2000psi, but it goes up to $20/foot.

I have had my skid shoes loosen up many times anyway, so a rubber or nylon edge is a better way to go
