Snapper 28-30 inch Automatic Transmission ?

I have a question for you snapper rer owners out there please.

I wanted to know if the older snapper 28 or 30 inch models are automatic.

I know they have a disc type transmission, but wondered how it worked in terms of shifting.

Is it smooth like a hydro? ( i read on snappers website their highest range model is automatic.)

Or is it still notchy like a murray rer where you have to clutch first, then shift then let off the clutch?

thanks !

It is a very simple and reliable system that can be shifted on the fly although use the clutch and stop when shifting into reverse. I was going to say same as most snow blowers but I see you are in Florida.

Yes i'm in florida, thanks for the clarification on the shifting i appreciate it, i asked because i thought i'd pick up an older snapper, but i may go with the newer model with hydro. 30 - 33 is perfect for my lawn. I still have my murrary but want an automatic in this size range and leave the old murrary as the back up.

Disengaging makes it easier to slide the shifter is all. the snappers are the most reliable least problematic drive system in a rear engine rider. The only wear part is the drive wheel itself and the one I bought years ago was about $35
