Hi,

Gotten alot of good information here. Seems like very experienced people on board. I have a Craftsman DYT4000, purchased in 2004. When I go down to low idle it blows out a big puff of white smoke. Sometimes it takes a minute or so to get rid of it. Also, tractor at full throttle doesn't seem to go as fast as it did when we first got it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If you mow extreme slopes, you could be frothing up some oil that vents into the carb intake. When was the last time you changed spark plugs?

had a problem with my MTD Lawnflite 604 not going as fast as it used to at full throttle...turned out to be a foreign body (pine cone) stuck in the vari drive system. Not 100% sure what drive system you've got on that craftsman, so may not be relavent to you.
