Small scale green house design.

Well, it's late in the season now, and my mind wanders to starting fresh in the spring. I have never "used" a green house (save a cold frame my dad had for a few years) but I am now thinking it may be nice to have something small to help get some stuff started. I am thinking about building one, and it needs to be better built that the "wrap looped PVC in plastic" deals.

I would like to stay small, and something attached to the house in a lean to can be used. Photos help too! :thThumbsU

You know... if your going small, getting preamium parts would not be that pricy... Im thinking a nice ceder frame, with those dubble layer ridged plastic panels. [or eaven glass but one rock thrown by the mower and..... you get the idea.]
I've seen some nice ones built out of recycled glass shower doors and sliding glass doors.

May not be what you are wanting. It does look like it would be a good idea.

Before you get too involved, you might consider a kit greenhouse. All the design is done for you, and all the parts are included.

Charley's Greenhouse is one place I've purchased from.

Growers Supply is another.

If you do roll your own, both also have parts like vents and glazing systems and so forth that you can order.

We have a little 6 x 8 Simpson kit with polycarbonate glazing that's close to 15 years old and still holding up.
Well, Three years ago I build one with old storm windows, We had built a new house and I had all the old storms laying around. I Had a building with nothing on the south side of it so I dug in a row of blocks so they were level, and framed up the walls so they fit the windows, then just screw the windows to the frame. These were steel frame windows with build in scree. you could do the same with any old storm window The beauty of the combo storm is that are made to screw in place and you can open for ventilation' I'll try to post some pictures. I placed a box fan in one window with louvers and a thermostat that works well to control the temp. I use electric heater for some early cold night.
The roof is covered with plactic palels

I am going to try one of those car ports for a green house. The framing is solid, just anchor it to some 6x6's for a base, put in a couple doors and wrap it.
rvgary - pm sent.... interested in your pictures.
